Content is King, as the SEO mantra goes, but how do you know what to write? I run several websites, and one of them is a Joomla site, on which I have installed a plug-in called Joomlawatch. Joomlawatch is a clever program, in that in the back end, the administrator can monitor in real time visitors to the website. Whilst sitting back with a cup of coffee, I noticed a a visitor turning up on a keyword I hadn’t really optimized for. A google search showed that on that keyword, I came in at about halfway down page three in a search results. I decided to run a quick experiment, and see if I could rank higher for the keyword in question by writing an article on the fly.
The keyword was ‘Tekena Inn’, which is a hostel on Easter Island. I quickly wrote an article, (it took about five minutes in total, including description and keywords SEO), and sent it live.
The very next day… Yes, the VERY NEXT DAY, that same article ranked on page one in the Google search results for ‘Tekena Inn’. Check it out for yourself.
(The actual article is located here Tekena Inn)
Writing an article on the fly, can be quick and easy, adding content to your website, and ranking high in search engine results. If you don’t have a Joomla website, use your Google Webmaster account to analyse what search terms people are using to find your website. On each of those keyword phrases, see if you can either improve a current articles ranking, or write a new article specifically to rank high on that keyword.
Writing articles on the fly like this can also break up the monotony of the structured webmasters approach to website content creating. Even by setting aside an hour a day, you can easily create three or four unique articles within that time, adding more content to your site. More specifically, it is adding content that people are already searching for. It also a great way to hone your content writing skills, and improve your speed. Try it and see !
